  • Sarnath, anupam mishra (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
I had visited Varanasi in the summer of 1960, when I was 24 years old. I stayed here for three days and walked around the river front mostly. The first day I visited the campus of the Benaras Hindu University and the areas nearby. The second day I visited the Viswanath temple and all the ghats nearby. The last day I went to Sarnath and that was the place that I really came to see. At that time I had found out that Buddhism appealed to me as the most rational idea. I was lucky to visit the place where the Buddha gave his first sermon and I considered myself very lucky to come, see and feel a little bit of enlightenment.
